The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21 (NATO code "Fishbed") is a Soviet supersonic multirole fighter in use from the early 1960s to the present day. It was used by the air forces of more than 30 countries and is still in service in several of them. Over 10,000 of them were produced, making it the largest and longest produced supersonic aircraft. It took part in many armed conflicts, including the Arab-Israeli wars and the war in Vietnam. Series production began in 1959, but the development of the aircraft did not end with the introduction into production. Other design changes were verified, among other things, on the Je-66 machine. MiG-21 aircraft were included in the armament of the armies of more than fifty countries, in the years 1961–2005 they were also in the armament of the Czechoslovak People's Army and then the Army of the Czech Republic. They were produced under license during the years 1963-1972 in the company Aero Vodochody.
