The KV-2 was a Soviet heavy tank and assault cannon manufactured in 1940-1941 as the second variant of the KV series. In 1939, when it was introduced into KV-1 armament, an instruction was issued to develop a tank that could destroy the enemy's fortified points. This is how KV-2 was created. It had the same chassis and hull as the KV-1, but received a box-shaped rotating tower, which was mounted 152mm howitzer M-10T (tank howitzer M-10). In the KV-2 tank consisted of auxiliary equipment three 7.62 mm DT machine guns. He did not suffer from a lack of firepower, but the tall turret meant considerable overload of the chassis and a tall silhouette. This tank also had other disadvantages, in addition to high silhouette and weight, insufficient engine power (only 500 hp, 375 kW), which exacerbated the low mobility and speed inherited from the KV-1. However, KV-2 tanks in significant numbers did not intervene in the fight against the Germans.
