Lala-1 (Flying Laboratory) - a Polish post-war experimental aircraft designed at the Institute of Aviation.

In June 1971, designers from the Institute of Aviation decided to build an experimental aircraft intended for testing an agricultural aircraft with an AI-25 jet engine. The results of these tests were used by the designers to develop the concept of the PZL M-15 (Belphegor) agricultural jet. It was decided to use the An-2 biplane system, the PZL An-2R version is intended for agricultural work. The airfoil, ASz-62IR power unit, cockpit and main landing gear were used unchanged. The fuselage was shortened, one air intake was installed on the side, and an additional AI-25 turbojet engine with a thrust of 1,470 daN (1,500 kG) with an AI-9 starting engine was installed at the end of the fuselage. The author of this idea was M.Sc. Eng. Andrzej Frydrychewicz. The whole thing was finished with a fairing made of glass-epoxy laminate. The empennage was covered with canvas. The influence of jet engine exhaust gases on the empennage and the elevator and direction control system, as well as on chemicals sprayed for plant protection purposes, was examined. The structural design of this experimental aircraft and work on it were carried out by the Airframe and Endurance Center at the Institute of Aviation in 1971 by a team led by M.Sc. engineer Jerzy Świdziński and lasted half a year. The plane first flew on February 10, 1972 using a piston engine. The flight was performed by engineer. Andrzej Abłamowicz, test pilot of the Institute of Aviation. The experience from testing the Lala-1 aircraft was used to construct a new experimental aircraft, designated LLM-15, which first flew on May 30, 1973. The jet engine was launched in flight on April 26. The plane flew with military checkered patterns, with tactical number 12832. After the tests, it was dismantled. The results from flight tests were used to develop the M-15 aircraft. It is not known that any fragment of the structure was exhibited in the aviation museum.
