The Württemberg T3 engines were intended for shunting operations, for pushing trains up the steep Geislinger Steige and for operation on branch lines. 114 locomotives of this design were produced between 1891 and 1913, and in 1925 111 of them received the design series DRG 89.3-4. Reversing the engine was done using a hand lever, which offered great advantages in shunting operations. The drive mechanism was strongly developed, the drive wheels were relatively small at 1045 mm. The model depicts a locomotive that was built at Maschinenfabrik Esslingen in 1898 with the number 2982, with the Royal State Railways of Württemberg it was given the number 975 and finally with the DRG the number 89 328. Three examples of this design have survived to this day.
