The Church of the Virgin Mary (Slovak Church of the Virgin Mary) is located by the Liptovská Mara reservoir on the Váh River along the hill and the Havránok Archaeological Museum in the Liptovský Mikuláš district in the Žilina Region in Slovakia. The church was the main center of the spiritual life of medieval Liptov.
The first written mention of this early Gothic church dates from 1288 and the church was built between 1260 and 1280 on the site of a former Romanesque church. The church has undergone several renovations in its history and was the center of events in the area. In 1378, Ján Literát from Madočian, a Liptov peasant who was sentenced to death, was sentenced to death for forging royal deeds of donation. The church was used by the Catholic and Evangelical Churches. In connection with the construction of Liptovská Mary, a faithful copy of this church has been built in the Museum of Liptovská dedina in Pribylina. There is only the church tower and the ruins of the perimeter walls.
