Tatra 147 DC-5 (Dumpcar) is a single-sided dump truck with a body volume of 5 m³ and a load capacity of 10 tons, designed for heavy construction work. The DC-5 dump car on the Tatra 147 chassis was produced by Podpolianske strojárne, n.p. Detva in 1957–1961, 1024 units were produced.

The development of the car took place at the Research Institute of Construction and Ceramic Machinery in Brno. The basis of the car was the Tatra 147 chassis, created by shortening the standard Tatra 111 R chassis. The shorter wheelbase between the first and second axles was to improve load distribution, the center of gravity when tipping, and also maneuverability. The steel, hydraulically tipped body had a protective shield above the driver's cabin in front. The finished prototype of the DC-5 car was presented to the public in 1956 at the II. Exhibition of Czechoslovak Engineering in Brno. Subsequently, the project documentation was transferred to the national enterprise Podpolianske strojárne Detva (PPS), where its serial production began in 1957. The DC-5 vehicles were built on Tatra 147 chassis, supplied by the Tatra automobile factory in Kopřivnice. After the establishment of the development department at PPS, they created an innovative type DC-5A, externally recognizable by a slightly different shape of the body ribbing. Production of the original DC-5 version ended in 1960, the last DC-5A car rolled out on March 31, 1961. A total of 1,024 units of both variants were produced.

Tatra 147 DC-5 cars served in Czechoslovakia in the most difficult operating conditions - in quarries, open-pit mines, during the construction of waterworks (for example, the Lipno and Orlík reservoirs). A number of cars were exported, primarily to the Soviet Union, but also to other European and non-European countries.
