Tatra T 138 (1959 - 1971) is a Czech-Slovak truck with a 6x6 or 4x4 chassis with a load capacity of 12 tons. The successor to the Tatras 111 was decided as early as 1952, when it was centrally planned that seven to ten tonne trucks would be produced in the Tatras. It was a completely new type of truck with a modular concept, collectively designated T 137. The designation was changed to T 138 after LIAZ protested that Tatra wanted to enter the category of seven-ton two-axle vehicles.
