The IAI Kfir is an Israeli multirole, all-weather combat aircraft manufactured by Israel Aircraft Industries. Basically, it is a modified Dassault Mirage 5 airframe with Israeli equipment and an Israeli-made version of the American General Electric J79 engine. It was first presented to the public on April 14, 1975 and appeared at the Paris Air Show on June 31, 1977.
Kfir C.2 - Aerodynamically improved design with a 'dog tooth' on the leading edge of the wings, aero slats on the fuselage tip and canard surfaces of increased span, introduced in 1977 and representing the main production variant. It also had an inertial navigation system installed. Later produced pieces carried the new Elta EL/M-2001B radar, which resulted in a further 80cm lengthening of the bow. Two machines of this version were modified to photoreconnaissance after removing the barrel armament.
