Ensign was a Formula 1 designer from Britain. They took part in 133 big prizes, in which a total of 155 cars entered. Ensign scored 19 championship points and no podium finishes. The best result was 4th place at the 1981 Brazilian Grand Prix of Marc Surer, who also drove the fastest lap of the race.
Ensign was founded by Morris Nunn, who also performed design duties during the first two seasons of the team's existence. Nunn later became a prominent chief engineer in the American Champ Car series, winning the championships with drivers Alex Zanardi and Juan Pablo Montoya in the late 1990s.
