The Aérospatiale-BAC Concorde 101/102 was a British-French supersonic airliner that was in service between 1976 and 2003. It was operated by British Airways and Air France and symbolized the reconciliation of the rivalry between Great Britain and France. Its maximum speed exceeded twice the speed of sound - Mach 2.04 (1,335 km/h or 2,180 km/h at cruising altitude) with a cruise speed of 2,158 km/h and seating for 100 passengers. It first flew in 1969, entered service in 1976 and continued flying for the next 27 years. It is one of two supersonic airliners that were operated commercially; the other is the Soviet Tupolev Tu-144, which was deployed in the late 1970s.
