The UH-60 Black Hawk is an American twin-engine, four-blade, medium-heavy multi-purpose helicopter manufactured by Sikorsky Aircraft. The helicopter design was created for the Utility Tactical Transport Aircraft System (UTTAS) competition in 1972, which was organized by the US Army. The Army designated the prototype as the UH-60A and selected the Black Hawk as the winning helicopter for the program in 1976. The first prototype flew in October 1974 and serial production began in 1979. It is used for air attacks, landings and rescue of military units and civilians.

It entered service with the US Army in 1979, replacing the Bell UH-1 Iroquois tactical transport helicopter. Subsequently, variants of the Black Hawk helicopter were produced for electronic warfare and special operations. Improved variants of the UH-60L and UH-60M were also developed. Modified versions were developed for the US Army, Air Force, Navy and Coast Guard. These helicopters were also exported to other countries and participated in several combat conflicts in Grenada, Panama, Iraq, Somalia, the Balkans, Afghanistan and the Middle East.

The largest Czech aircraft manufacturer, Aero Vodochody, also participated in the production of the helicopter from 2011 to 2019, producing cabins for Black Hawk helicopters.
