Gorch Fock is a former German three-masted training bar, the first in a series of training school sailboats built for the German Imperial Navy in 1933. The vessel survived World War II, after which it was seized as a war reparation by the Soviet Union and assigned to the Soviet Navy under the name Tovarišč “). After the war, a new sailboat was built for the German navy, which was again named Gorch Fock. The original Gorch Fock sailed under the Ukrainian flag after the collapse of the Soviet Union. In 1990, the ship was left in a British port due to a lack of resources to repair it. Eventually, she managed to get sponsors and transport her to Stralsund, which was her German home port. Here, on November 29, 2003, the ship was renamed Gorch Fock and opened as a museum ship. However, the vessel has undergone extensive reconstruction, it is not technically capable of navigation.
