Radyně (originally Karlskrone) is a castle ruin on a cobblestone hill of the same name (567 meters) in the Švihovské vrchovina, south of Staré Plzeň in the Pilsen region. The ruin is protected as a cultural monument. The castle is open to the public. The castle was founded before 1361 by King Charles IV. It remained royal property until the end of the fourteenth century, but in 1400 Václav IV. stopped for the first time. During the Hussite Wars, Radyně was an important stronghold of the Catholic nobility. In the following years, representatives of the lower nobility took turns in possession of the castle, and the importance of the castle declined. At the end of the fifteenth century, it served only as a hunting lodge for the lords of Šternberk and burned down sometime during the first half of the sixteenth century. In 1536, Adam from Šternberk inherited Radyni, but in 1558 the castle was already marked as deserted.
