The North American P-51 Mustang was a long-range, single-seat fighter aircraft that served on the Allied side during World War II. It was one of the most successful types of fighter aircraft.
He mostly accompanied the bombers during raids on Germany and helped the Allies gain air superiority. It was also deployed in the Pacific against Japan.
The machine started the Korean War as the main fighter and fighter aircraft of the Allies, but in the course of it was replaced by jet aircraft. In some air forces, the Mustang still served in the early 1980s. A number of airworthy aircraft of private owners are still flying today.
