Český Krumlov State Castle and Chateau is an important architectural monument in the South Bohemian district town of Český Krumlov. With an area of ​​over 6 hectares, it is (after Prague Castle) the second largest castle and chateau complex in the Czech Republic and, thanks to high ratings from Czech and foreign experts, was declared a national cultural monument in 1989 and inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1992. In 2014, it was visited by almost 368,000 people, making it the third most visited castle or chateau in the Czech Republic (after Prague Castle and Lednice State Castle) and also the most visited tourist destination in the South Bohemian Region. It is owned by the state (administration is provided by the National Monuments Institute).
